Mobile Engineer (Android Platform & Ecosystem)

About the Role

Join Google's engineering team at its UK headquarters in King's Cross, London. As a Mobile Engineer focusing on the Android Platform & Ecosystem, you will design, develop, test, and ship high‑impact features used by billions of users worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement core Android platform components and services at Google scale.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and backend teams to deliver seamless end‑to‑end experiences.
• Maintain high code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• Drive performance, reliability, and security improvements across Android applications.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best‑practice guidelines.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Expertise in Kotlin and Java, Android SDK, and modern Jetpack libraries.
• Strong understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (JUnit, Espresso, Robolectric).
• Familiarity with Google Cloud services and large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven ability to ship production‑ready code at scale.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Jetpack Compose.
• Knowledge of Flutter or cross‑platform mobile frameworks.
• Contributions to open‑source Android projects.
• Background in performance profiling and optimization.
