About the Role
Join Google's engineering team in Bengaluru (Google Bangalore Campus, RMZ Infinity / Bagmane Tech Park). As a Network Systems Engineer for Google Global Backbone & SDN, you will design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions at Google scale, impacting billions of users across our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement high‑performance networking software for the global backbone and software‑defined networking (SDN) infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain routing protocols, including BGP, IS‑IS, and OSPF, optimized for data‑center scale.
- Build automation tools and frameworks using Python, Go, or C++ to streamline network operations.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, product teams, and site reliability engineers to ensure seamless integration and reliability.
- Perform extensive testing, simulation, and performance analysis to guarantee low latency and high availability.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, SDN, or large‑scale distributed systems.
- Strong programming skills in C++, Go, or Python.
- Deep understanding of BGP, routing protocols, and data‑center networking.
- Experience with network automation frameworks (Ansible, Terraform) and Linux networking stack.
- Proficiency in Linux kernel networking, eBPF/XDP, and performance debugging tools.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

- Experience with Google Cloud Platform networking services.
- Knowledge of P4 language and programmable data‑plane devices.
