Kharchana is an offline personal finance management application developed by Coding's Art. Your privacy and financial data security are extremely important to us.

Overview

Kharchana is designed to work primarily offline. All financial data is stored locally on your device. The app does not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or financial information.

Permissions Used

Kharchana may request the following Android permissions:

• READ_SMS: Used only to detect bank transaction messages for automatic expense tracking.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to display budget alerts and important financial notifications.
• Notification Access (Optional): Used only if enabled by the user to detect financial transaction notifications from supported apps.

SMS permission (READ_SMS) is requested at runtime only after you explicitly choose to enable automatic SMS tracking. The app functions normally without granting SMS permission.

Information We Access

• Bank transaction SMS messages (only if you grant SMS permission)
• Payment-related notifications (only if you enable Notification Access)
• Basic app preferences stored locally on your device

Kharchana does not access personal conversations unrelated to financial transactions.

How SMS Data Is Used

Kharchana accesses SMS messages stored on your device only after you grant the READ_SMS permission through a runtime permission request.

The app scans for bank and financial transaction messages in order to automatically detect expenses and income entries for your personal finance tracking.

Personal conversations and non-financial messages are not processed or stored.

All SMS processing occurs locally on your device. SMS content is never uploaded, transmitted, stored on external servers, shared, or sold.

Notification Access (Optional)

If you choose to enable Notification Access, Kharchana may read financial transaction notifications from supported apps to improve automatic transaction detection.

This feature is optional and can be disabled at any time from your Android device settings.

Data Storage

All detected transactions, budgets, categories, and preferences are stored locally on your device. Kharchana does not upload or back up your financial data to any cloud server.

Data Sharing

Kharchana does not sell, rent, share, distribute, or monetize your personal or financial data. Your SMS content and transaction information remain on your device at all times.

Internet Usage

The app may use internet access for standard app functionality or updates. However, SMS content and financial transaction data are never transmitted over the internet.

User Control

Automatic SMS tracking is completely optional. You may choose to manually enter transactions instead.

You may revoke SMS or Notification permissions at any time through your Android device settings. Once revoked, the app immediately stops accessing SMS messages.

You may uninstall the app at any time to remove all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

Kharchana is not directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
