Frontend Software Engineer, Web Standards & Chrome

About the Role

Join Google's engineering team in Mumbai (Google Mumbai Campus, Bandra Kurla Complex). As a Frontend Software Engineer, Web Standards & Chrome, you will design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions at Google scale, impacting billions of users across global Google products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance web UI components for Chrome and Google web products.
• Drive web standards compliance, accessibility, and cross‑browser consistency.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Write automated tests, conduct code reviews, and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Measure, analyze, and improve page load performance and resource utilization.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience building large‑scale web applications.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frameworks (React), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
• Strong understanding of web standards, browser internals, and performance optimization.
• Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Karma) and build tools (Webpack, Bazel).

Nice to Have

• Contributions to open‑source web standards or Chrome projects.
• Familiarity with Service Workers, WebAssembly, or Progressive Web Apps.
• Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG) and internationalization.
