About the Role
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking an experienced Senior Node.js & TypeScript Developer to join our high‑impact delivery team in Chennai. You will own end‑to‑end development of scalable backend services, design robust APIs, and extend our internal developer portal using Backstage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Node.js services using TypeScript.
- Build and evolve GraphQL and REST APIs, ensuring security (OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC) and best‑practice documentation.
- Integrate third‑party tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Argo CD, Terraform Cloud, and ServiceNow via Backstage backend connectors.
- Develop and enhance Backstage plugins and custom developer‑portal features.
- Write efficient SQL queries and manage PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and performance tuning.
- Containerize services with Docker and orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes clusters.
- Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver features in Agile sprints.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 6‑12 years of full‑stack development experience.
- Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Hands‑on experience with GraphQL, REST API design, and authentication mechanisms (OAuth2/OIDC).
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases.
- Practical knowledge of containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes deployment.
- Experience building or extending Backstage or similar developer‑portal frameworks (preferred).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration with tools like GitLab, Jenkins, Argo CD.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Terraform, ServiceNow, or other infrastructure‑as‑code platforms.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills to translate requirements into reliable solutions.
- Familiarity with micro‑service architecture patterns.
