Frontend Software Engineer, Web Standards & Chrome

About the Role

Join Google's engineering team at the Gurugram campus, where you will design, develop, test, and ship high‑performance web platform code that powers Chrome and other Google products used by billions worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core web standards implementations in Chrome’s rendering engine.
• Collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver fast, secure, and accessible web experiences.
• Write clean, modular JavaScript, HTML, and CSS following modern best practices.
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering issues.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration pipelines.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience building large‑scale web applications.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and web standards.
• Strong understanding of browser internals, especially Chrome’s Blink and V8 engines.
• Experience with performance profiling tools and optimization techniques.
• Proficiency with testing frameworks such as Jest, Karma, or Mocha.
• Solid Git workflow and code review practices.

Nice to Have

• Contributions to open‑source web standards or Chromium.
• Knowledge of TypeScript, WebAssembly, or progressive web apps.
• Experience with accessibility (WCAG) and internationalization.
