About the Role

Join Google's engineering team at the Mumbai campus (Bandra Kurla Complex) as a Frontend Software Engineer, Web Standards & Chrome. You will design, develop, test, and ship web solutions that run at Google scale, influencing billions of users across Google products such as Search, Gmail, and Google Docs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance, standards‑compliant web components for Chrome and Google web applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Drive performance, accessibility, and security best practices across the codebase.
• Write robust unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests; maintain CI pipelines.
• Contribute to open‑source web standards initiatives and internal tooling.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion a culture of code quality.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience building large‑scale web applications.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern web standards.
• Strong understanding of Chrome internals, rendering pipeline, and performance optimization techniques.
• Proficiency with React (or similar component libraries) and state‑management patterns.
• Experience with build tools such as Webpack, Babel, and CI/CD systems.
• Solid knowledge of accessibility (WCAG) and web security best practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with WebAssembly, Rust, or C++ for performance‑critical modules.
• Contributions to open‑source projects or web standards bodies.
• Familiarity with server‑side rendering frameworks and progressive web apps.
