AVP, Principal Software Engineer (L11)

About the Role

Synchrony, a leading consumer financial services company, is seeking an AVP, Principal Software Engineer (L11) to lead its Front‑End Engineering organization in Hyderabad. You will shape the architecture and delivery of high‑performance, accessible web experiences that serve over 60 million customers and numerous brand partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end development of flagship consumer‑facing web applications and partner portals.
• Drive technical strategy, coding standards, and best practices across a multi‑disciplinary engineering team.
• Mentor senior engineers, conduct design reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools and agentic workflows to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and backend teams to translate business goals into scalable front‑end solutions.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility (WCAG 2.1), performance, and security standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 5 years leading front‑end teams.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Redux, and modern front‑end tooling.
• Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and web accessibility.
• Proven track record of building high‑performance, scalable web applications.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and automated testing.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and strong communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with server‑side rendering (Next.js) or micro‑frontend architectures.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Tabnine).
• Background in financial services or regulated industries.
