Machine Learning Engineer, Google DeepMind & Search

About the Role

Google’s Bengaluru engineering hub is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join the DeepMind & Search team. You will design, develop, test, and deploy large‑scale ML solutions that power core Google products and impact billions of users worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, prototype, and productionize state‑of‑the‑art ML models for search relevance, ranking, and knowledge retrieval.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to integrate models into Google’s high‑throughput infrastructure.
• Build scalable data pipelines and feature stores to support training and inference at Google scale.
• Conduct rigorous A/B testing, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of deployed models.
• Publish findings in internal forums and contribute to open‑source ML tools where appropriate.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of professional experience building and deploying ML models in production.
• Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with large‑scale data processing (e.g., Apache Beam, Spark) and feature engineering.
• Solid software engineering practices: code reviews, testing, version control (Git), and CI/CD.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a track record of delivering end‑to‑end solutions.

Nice to Have

• Ph.D. or advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Vertex AI).
• Experience with reinforcement learning, natural language processing, or information retrieval.
• Contributions to open‑source ML libraries or research publications.
