Privacy & Compliance Engineer, Trust & Safety Platform

About the Role

Google’s Trust & Safety Platform safeguards billions of users worldwide. As a Privacy & Compliance Engineer based in Bengaluru, you will design, develop, test, and deploy privacy‑preserving software at Google scale, ensuring our products meet global regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement privacy‑by‑design features across core Google services.
• Collaborate with product, legal, and security teams to translate regulatory requirements into technical specifications.
• Build automated compliance pipelines, data‑minimization tools, and audit frameworks.
• Conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and security reviews for new and existing features.
• Drive incident response and remediation for privacy‑related incidents.
• Mentor junior engineers on privacy engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in large‑scale, cloud‑native environments.
• Deep understanding of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, India’s PDPB) and data‑protection principles.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, or Go; experience with GCP services (BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud KMS).
• Strong knowledge of cryptography, access control, and secure coding practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with privacy‑enhancing technologies (differential privacy, homomorphic encryption).
• Familiarity with open‑source privacy tools and frameworks.
• Certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CISSP.
