Microservices Platform Engineer, gRPC & Envoy Mesh

About the Role

Google’s Hyderabad campus invites a seasoned Microservices Platform Engineer to architect, build, and maintain scalable, resilient systems that power billions of users worldwide. You will focus on gRPC-based communication, Envoy service mesh, and cloud-native infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑throughput microservices using gRPC and Go.
• Configure and manage Envoy service mesh for traffic routing, load balancing, and observability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define service contracts and API standards.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and roll‑back strategies.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot latency issues, and optimize resource usage.
• Contribute to open‑source tooling and share best practices across the engineering community.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of experience designing distributed systems at scale.
• Proficiency in gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and Go.
• Hands‑on experience with Envoy, Kubernetes, and service mesh concepts.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, load balancing, and fault tolerance.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
• Excellent debugging, performance tuning, and observability skills.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of C++ or Rust for performance‑critical components.
• Experience with Istio or Linkerd service meshes.
• Background in security hardening of microservices.
• Contributions to open‑source projects.
