About the Role
Join Hitachi Energy’s India Development Centre (IDC) in Chennai, a cutting‑edge R&D hub collaborating with research centres across 12 countries. As a Senior Engineer you will design, develop, and ship high‑impact, secure, and performant React applications that power our digital solutions and product capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain modern React applications using reusable components, hooks, and strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.
- Define and enforce UI architecture, folder structures, and coding standards across the frontend team.
- Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs, handling data fetching, caching, error handling, and pagination.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization flows, managing tokens, sessions, and role‑based access.
- Optimize UI performance – reduce bundle size, improve rendering, manage memory, and ensure fast load times.
- Debug and resolve UI, state management, API integration, and cross‑browser issues.
- Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and champion engineering best practices.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, safety, and integrity standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience building enterprise‑grade React applications.
- Deep expertise in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and modern front‑end tooling (Webpack, Babel, ESLint).
- Strong knowledge of RESTful services and GraphQL.
- Hands‑on experience with authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, JWT, SSO).
- Solid understanding of browser fundamentals – DOM, events, storage, cookies, caching, and security.
- Proven track record of performance tuning and bundle optimization.
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library) and CI/CD pipelines.
