Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

YouTrip, the #1 multi-currency digital wallet in Asia-Pacific, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to lead the design and implementation of high-performance, scalable services that power our consumer and business products.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain core backend services in Go (or equivalent high-performance language).
• Design micro-service APIs that handle millions of transactions daily with low latency.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and security compliance for payment workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers and enforce best practices in code quality, testing, and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with product, data, and security teams to translate fintech requirements into robust technical solutions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in Go or another backend language (Java, Scala, Rust).
• Deep understanding of micro-service architecture, REST/gRPC, and event-driven design.
• Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Strong knowledge of relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis, Cassandra) databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana).

Nice to Have

• Background in fintech, payments, or digital wallets.
• Familiarity with security standards (PCI-DSS, OAuth2, JWT).
• Knowledge of event streaming platforms (Kafka, NATS).
