Developer Productivity Engineer, Scaled Build & Test (Bazel)

About the Role

Join Google's engineering team at the Gurugram campus to design, develop, test, and deploy large-scale build and test infrastructure using Bazel. You will enable faster, reliable releases for billions of users across Google products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable build pipelines and test frameworks powered by Bazel.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve developer productivity.
• Maintain and evolve CI/CD systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Instrument, monitor, and troubleshoot build performance at Google scale.
• Contribute to open-source Bazel ecosystem and internal tooling.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in build systems or large-scale infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in Bazel, including rule development and Starlark scripting.
• Expertise in at least one programming language such as C++, Java, or Python.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, CI/CD, and cloud environments.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and performance profiling.

Nice to Have

• Contributions to open-source build tools or Bazel.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
